Divers Equipment is a SSI Platinum facility which utilizes Scuba Schools International training aids and standards — the finest the scuba industry has to offer.

Our training facility has been training divers since 1959 and we want to do everything possible to help you love diving as much as we do.  From our high tech classroom (featuring 60" wide screen TV and multiple learning aids) to our indoor heated pool, you will find learning at Divers Equipment to be a fun, enjoyable experience in a relaxed environment.  


The Open Water Diver Certification

Here is your ticket to the underwater world - the OPEN WATER DIVER certificate. The combination of SSI Student Manual, DVD and Water training sessions will help you learn everything you need to know to start your adventure the fun and correct way.

The SSI Student Manual includes study guide questions at the end of each section to help you retain your new knowledge and test your retention. During your training sessions at Divers Equipment, you will learn all of the necessary skills and safe procedures to be a comfortable and confident diver.

SSI Open Water Diver certification cards are recognized worldwide. They entitle you to dive with other certified divers, enable you to purchase/rent equipment and obtain air fills anywhere you choose to dive.

Start by coming in to sign up and get your Student Kit.  Read the book and answer the questions at the end of each chapter.  Your SSI Instructor will go over the material with you during the class and pool sessions to ensure you have a good understanding of the principles involved. 

After successful completion of the classroom and pool sessions, you have one thing left to do to complete certification: 

The Open Water Lake Checkout:

This is where we put it all together in the open water.  4 dives will be done over two days at one of the area lakes.  This gives you valuable experience in a natural environment.  We normally schedule one lake checkout every month during summer months.

Our 3 week Evening or One Weekend class is only $120.00.
Student Kits are $75.00.
Two day lake checkout is $100.00.
